Erl Festival
Visit to the Festival in Erl from July 9 to August 2, 2015
The Tyrolean Festival Erl, founded by Gustav Kuhn in 1997, has been held every year on 25 days in July at the Passionsspielhaus Erl since 1998. In December 2012, a new, winter-proof festival theater was opened next to the traditional festival venue. From now on there will be a two-week winter season at the turn of the year, but the house will also be used as an alternative venue to the passion play house in summer.

Wilder Käser

Wilder Käser - Show dairy in Gasteig
(very close to St. Johann) - barrier-free, but unfortunately the toilet is not;
How long has cheese been around? Why are Tyrolean cows happy? Did the two stinkers really deserve their name? You can learn all this and much more in the modern 400 m2 showroom of the Tyrolean show dairy: All cheese in words and pictures! Here you can watch the hand-refined delicacies while ripening, ask the Wilder Käser many questions and take a look (through glass) into the sacred handicraft halls, where the Wild Käser round every day
1,200 liters of hay milk transformed into 700 delicious cheese loaves. For hygiene reasons, only the master himself is allowed into the production rooms.
The heart of the Tyrolean show dairy is the originally preserved 500-year-old farmhouse, which was relocated from the family farm in Ellmau to its present location in Gasteig in a complex operation: disassembled into 1,500 individual parts that had to be put together again like a puzzle. The snacks taste twice as good in the rustic, cozy atmosphere of this historic farmhouse! In addition to the tasting parlor, you will also find a farmer's shop with the best products from the mountains: hearty smoked sausages & bacon, the finest jams, Tyrolean brandies and distillates, herbal teas, spreads, honey, syrups, chocolates ... and of course cheese again and again!

Hike St. Johann
The hike requires some stamina due to short climbs if you want to complete it without help. It is very rewarding for the landscape!
The starting point is the Oberbürghof. From there it goes steeply down to the street for about 200 m. There on the narrow, very little-used road, it goes up slightly to the left towards Römerhof. After 900 m there is an incline of around 200 m in length. Then it continues, slightly ascending to the Römerhof or even further towards Going on the Jakobsweg. The way back is identical to the way there. The most difficult point is the slope just before the Oberbürghof.
Nature's tip: beautiful view of the mountains of the Kaiser Mountains and wonderful gentle meadows with the typical farms of the Tyrolean lowlands.
Refreshment tip: Römerhof, Römerweg 74
