Winter-Spring-Walk

TIP TIP TIP

A hike around Lake Hintersteinersee when the first snow roses announce spring is also highly recommended in March.

From the parking lot on the eastern shore of Hintersteinersee 890 m, take the westbound road (path no. 822), the view sweeps over the peaks of the Scheffauer, the Hackenkopf and the Wiesberg to the Sonneck. Above the Schneekar you can see the mighty summit of the Treffauer and Tuxeck. At Pension Maier, turn left to the south bank and along the hiking path in the forest where you can watch the fish directly by the crystal-clear water. After a small climb you will soon come back to the starting point.

If you want to go higher, we recommend the hike from Hintersteinersee to Walleralm, which is also open in winter.

Start your route at the Cafè Restaurant Seestüberl - there are parking spaces (fee) - and follow the path (No. 45a). Hike up to the Walleralm. The Walleralm (1,170 m), Stöfflhütte and Kafma Alm, offer refreshments to strengthen yourself. You can round off the tour with a short walk to the summit cross (1,199 m). Hike down on path no. 45 to the Maier snack station. Follow the path on the south bank of Hintersteinersee (No. 822), where you can watch the fish directly by the crystal-clear water until you have returned to the Seestüberl.

Alternatively, you can start the specified route from the Maier snack station. There are also parking spaces there (fee)
